How often do you see amethyst from Peru, particularly of this size?  This is a very large example for the country, and it is terminated with a fair amount of etching  and odd crystal growth.  

The only other amethysts I have seen from Peru recently are small (sub 2 cm) scepters with a bit of purple color concentrated at the termination.
