SMQ17 Dioptase
Tsumeb Mine, Otjikoto Region, Namibia
11.8x 8.5x 7.0 cm
A cabinet specimen of dioptase with calcite. There are a bunch of sheared dioptase crystals embedded in the matrix around the edges of the main display area, that add to the overall “greenness” of the specimen. For the price, it’s not bad—especially considering what Tsumeb dioptase specimens sell for these days. It looks more impressive than it is, particularly given the size and the amount of dioptase on the piece, so you get something that LOOKS like a more expensive than it is.
